Foundation Videos
Christ, and the revelation of Christ, is the Rock upon which He builds His Church. Sam McVay, Jr., connects the dots from Genesis to Revelation in twelve intensive sessions to lay such a firm foundation. Themes include the Spirit of the Scriptures, the definition of our Age and purpose, the two trees, the anatomy of man and his fall, the prophetic types of Christ in the Old Testament, an organic view of the Church, and the Spirit-led life in Christ.
Disciples of Jesus will learn to see the Scriptures - and all of their lives - through the lens of the glory of God in the preeminence of Christ.
Session One
Studying the Scriptures from the Tree of Life
06.04.08
It’s easy to amass knowledge from the wrong tree and argue theology, but we need to learn the Spirit of the Scriptures. We can find Christ in Moses’ writings and all the prophets. We can eat the Scriptures for fellowship with the living God.
Session Two
Defining Our Age
06.11.08
Creation’s purpose is to manifest the invisible qualities of God, but Genesis 1:2 manifests the opposite of God. The tragedy and ensuing war set the context for the age in which we were created, lasting from Genesis 1:3 to Revelation 21:1’s new heaven and new earth. This revelation rescues us from man-centered theology to God-centered glory.
Session Three
Days of Reclamation
06.18.08
The six days in Genesis One are literal, physical twenty-four-hour periods… and so much more. In its layers God foretold His moving in history and the fullness of time and eternity. The foundation of God’s love and grace for us is His image; He is jealous for and faithful to the display of His glory. We find our reason for living here: we are blessed - empowered - to be fruitful, multiply, fill, subdue and rule.
Session Four
The Anatomy of Man and His Fall
06.25.08
Man was created three parts - spirit, soul, and body - in the Image of the Triune God. They ate the normally pleasant trees with their bodies for physical life. They ate the Tree of Life with their spirits for spiritual life. Satan’s strategy was more than one random act of disobedience; he schemed to get them to change source. He appealed to the soul to produce an independent and increased self-consciousness. Yet Christ’s sacrifice assumed all the aspects of Adam’s judgment.
Session Five
Uncovering Christ in the Old Testament
06.29.08
A ten-point summary of Scripture connects the dots defining our age. Then we unveil the shadows and types of Christ throughout the Old Testament, as Paul encouraged in Colossians 2:16-17.
Session Six
The Gospel of Jesus Christ
07.22.08
Why the Incarnation? Redemption is the emergency plan, but the greater reason is God’s faithfulness to His image and purposes in Genesis 1:26-28. Therefore, Jesus’ ministry brought the kingdom of the heavens, subduing the devil in the desert and healing, exorcising, preaching, and triumphing in His death and resurrection.
Session Seven
The Birth of the Church
07.23.08
In accordance with the blessing of Genesis 1:28, Jesus multiplied by sharing His life intimately and making disciples. Exalted to the Right Hand of the Father, He poured out His Spirit for the birth of the Church - a family, not an business; a Body, not a building; an army, not an audience.
